Our Story: From Humble Roots to a Germiston Landmark
A Legacy of Growth
Our journey began in 1970, when Mrs. Sue Atterbury purchased the property at 9 King Street. What started as a modest venture renting out furnished rooms under the name Germiston Residential quickly became a local staple.
As our reputation for quality and comfort grew, so did our footprint. To keep up with the increasing demand, Sue expanded the business by acquiring the neighboring properties:
- 11 King Street: Added to provide more guest rooms and secure, ample on-site parking.
- 7 King Street: The third adjacent property, completing our current location.
Evolution into Excellence
In 2015, following a series of extensive renovations and modern upgrades across all rooms, we officially transitioned into a licensed motel. Thus, Germiston Residential Motel was born—combining the warmth of our original residential roots with the professional standards of a modern motel.
More Than Just a Stay
In 2017, we expanded our services even further with the opening of the Big 5 Pub. Fully licensed and welcoming, the pub provides the perfect spot for guests and locals alike to unwind and enjoy the vibrant community spirit that has defined us since the beginning.
